Ron Kattawar, the youngest of six, was born July 19, 1948. It was a magical time when the Mississippi Delta had become a gathering place of literati, and was in an amazing economic growth boom. Segregation was a part of everyday life when everything was separated by color. Kids lived a simple life as the times dictated.

Within his home, his father, Mike Kattawar Sr. was a factory worker at U.S. Gypsum Mill and a strong disciplinary. Dollie Kattawar, came from a large family of ten children a stay-at-home mother and was the heart of the home. She taught the six kids to judge not the tree, but the fruit.

Mike Kattawar, was a strong businessman that developed later in life and Dollie Kattawar, was a sensitive, nurturing mom; the anchor of home life.

Growing up in a busy, often hectic home filled with older siblings and musical talent, Ron was a bit more introverted than the outgoing older siblings. It's been said that his sensitivities came from a very close relationship with his mom. Leadership, management skills and business savvy developed from close ties to his dad. Ron chooses to say dad was steel and mom was velvet and he found the better of both.

Ron married his sweetheart from the eighth grade, Carol Cauley Kattawar. Together they parented three children, Kim, Ronnie Jr. and Jason and are now proud grandparents to Preston, C.J., Brandon, Kadence and Hailey.

Growing up in Greenville, Mississippi, a city on the Mississippi River can best be described as a true-life Mayberry. Within the pages of his book, CORNBREAD MEMORIES, Ron recounts the near ideal barefoot childhood, friends, memories and family. It's a journey of what it was like growing up in a town that could have easily been a movie set filled with amazing movie stars and how each of them contributed and added value to life in the colorful, loving South.
