Bio for Charles betterton

Charles (shown in the photo of the Community Unity Event he produced in 1990 with Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and Les Brown that led to this book) has been helping individuals, organizations and communities realize more of their potential and creating award-winning Community Resource Centers for almost 40 years. He served the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for 15 years as a disaster relief expert, a turn-around management specialist and community economic development specialist.

Charles won the highest cash-award ever paid to a HUD employee for a computer system modification he initiated that saved an estimated 300 million dollars. He turned down a HUD Community Builders Fellowship worth about $250,000 in 1998 because he would have had to discontinue his commitment to several community empowerment programs he had helped establish. Charles has founded and cofounded dozens of cause-oriented companies and non-profit organizations (NPOs) involved in personal, organizational and community development, empowerment and enlightenment. Presently he is focusing primarily on two NPOs, CENTER SPACE (the Center for Spiritual, Personal And Community Enlightenment) and the Ultimate Destiny UniverCity for Conscious Sustainable Living.

Charles is also the creator and co-author of the Ultimate Destiny Success System Library. It includes 14 stand-alone programs totaling over 1,200 pages. Charles has lived in spiritually centered intentional communities for over 25 years and he has a Masters in Community Economic Development (CED) from Southern New Hampshire University. The Principles of CED include Self-Help, Empowerment and Capacity building. When he was asked to share remarks at the graduation ceremony for the CED Masters program, Charles introduced himself as a Community Development Specialist for heaven on earth.
